The Heart of Our Efficiency: Geothermal Loop Field
Heating and cooling a large building typically consumes the most electricity. But at Hotel Verde, we’ve revolutionised this process with an advanced geothermal loop field paired with ground source heat pumps. This closed system, powered by four heat pumps, achieves remarkable efficiency.
Think of it like a high-tech household fridge. Just as a fridge cools its interior while dissipating heat from its back, our heat pumps cool one side while heating the other. This dual function dramatically boosts our energy efficiency.
Year-Round Comfort with Nature’s Help
Our geothermal system cleverly adapts to the changing seasons. In winter, it uses the Earth’s stable temperature to warm our hotel’s air and domestic water. In summer, it cools the air inside.
Beneath our hotel lies a consistent ground temperature of 19.4°C, regardless of the outdoor weather fluctuations from 3°C to 35°C. Our geothermal field, comprising 100 boreholes each about 65m deep and connected by 13km of HDPE U-bend piping, harnesses this steady ground temperature. It’s like having a natural thermal battery right under our feet!

Our system is designed not only for maximum efficiency but also for significant energy savings. By utilising both the heating and cooling effects of our heat pumps, we can save up to 50% of the electrical energy that conventional systems would use.
